Spanish Fort, AL · Serving Mobile & Baldwin County
Industrial air, hydraulics, and vacuum — engineered, installed, and kept running.
Air Hydraulics & Mechanical Equipment, Inc. is an engineer-owned shop: compressed air systems, hydraulic power, and vacuum pumps for plants and operations across the Gulf Coast — from SolidWorks model to commissioning test.
Owner-operated · Mechanical engineer, Clemson University · Design through commissioning
One engineer owns the job
Art Hughes is a Clemson-trained mechanical engineer who designs the system, installs it, and tests it. There is no gap between the person who drew it and the person who commissions it.
Measured, not guessed
Vacuum pumps get flat-plate orifice tested in place. Compressors get sized against your real load, not the catalog page. Decisions run on data.
Local to the Gulf Coast
Based in Spanish Fort and working across Mobile and Baldwin County, Alabama — close enough to show up when a line is down.
What we do
Four systems, one shop.
Engineering & design
Modeled in SolidWorks before anything gets welded.
Most equipment suppliers stop at the loading dock. AH&M is run by a mechanical engineer who models skids, piping, and components in 3D, engineers the system around your actual load, and then does the physical installation and testing himself.
- 3D design in SolidWorks — fit-up solved on screen, not in the field
- System sizing from engineering fundamentals, not catalog guesswork
- Installation, commissioning, and measured verification by the designer
Vacuum field testing
Is it the pump, or the system? Test before you spend.
An underperforming vacuum pump can bottleneck an entire production line — but so can a system problem wearing a pump's disguise. AH&M flat-plate orifice tests any brand of vacuum pump in place, measuring real ACFM at each vacuum level, so you replace equipment because the data says to.

A compressor that won't load, a hydraulic unit running hot, a vacuum line dragging production, or a new system to size — describe it in a sentence and we'll take it from there.
